Eye-opening research has revealed just how much Australians are hooked on online gambling.
Using data sourced from Statista, Japanese Online Casino Guide analysed the projected online gambling revenue for more than 60 countries in 2024.

10. Spain
Spain is projected to gather US$1.97 billion ($2.95 billion) in online gambling revenue in 2024.
9. India
The world’s most populous country, India, is forecast to gather US$2.9 billion ($4.35 billion) in online gambling revenue in 2024.
8. Italy
Italy has a forecast online gambling revenue total of US$3.21 billion ($4.81 billion) this year.
7. France
France’s forecast revenue total is US$4.12 billion ($6.17 billion).
6. Canada
Online gambling will make US$4.19 billion ($6.28 billion) in Canada this year.
5. Germany
German online gambling revenue will total US$5.65 billion ($8.47 billion) this year.
4. Japan
Japan’s forecast total is US$6.19 billion (49.28 billion).
3. Australia
Despite having by some length the smallest population of all the countries in the top 10, Australia sits third.
Online gambling revenue for 2024 is predicted to reach US$10.14 billion ($15.19 billion).
Australia also has the third-highest number of gamblers on the list, with 21.1 per cent of the population having taken part in online gambling.
Revenue from online gambling is expected to grow by 10.5 per cent in 2024, and at a rate of 5.12 per cent until 2028.
2. UK
In the UK, online gambling will make US$13.7 billion ($20.53 billion) this year.
That’s a projected 7.4 per cent increase on last year.
1. US
US online gambling revenue will reach US$23.03 billion ($34.51 billion) this year, it’s forecast.
That’s a massive 20.3 per cent increase on revenue in 2023.
